Photo on 2014-11-14 at 16.02I grew up in Darwin and the far north coast of NSW, but now I live in Bondi Beach, Sydney. I write YA novels, my first is called Yellow and right now it’s shortlisted for the CBCA Book of the Year Awards. My second, The Build-Up Season, has just been released. I’m really lucky to have them both published by Penguin Random House. Sometimes I write scripts for TV shows, but mostly I help put the ABC TV news to air. I’ve had my short stories published in The Sydney Morning Herald, the UTS Writers’ Anthology ‘I Can See My House from Here’, and in the Review of Australian Fiction, and I’ve had a short story produced and aired on ABC radio. When I’m not working for the man I’m soaking in some melanomas at the beach or pretending I’m a downward dog at yoga (while looking nothing like a dog, or a wheel, or a chair while doing those poses, I just look like an awkwardly bent person). I’m a wanderer and wonderer, a lover of dad jokes and a sucker for smiles.

  1. Dear Megan,

I just want to say what a great honour and an incredible blessing for me to have met you in person during the celebration of literature at my school. I felt forever indebted to your support, kind words and encouragement. My life has become better as a result of your positive input. I will never forget about the wonderful experience I had with you.

I just got home from my school camp and I had meant to send you this email before I left but I ran out of time.

As a 12 year old little girl, I was very overwhelmed by the outpouring of generosity and love you shared with me. If I continue to grow and thrive in writing, it would have been because you have allowed me to stand on your shoulder to see beyond.

I would love to stay in touch and hope to see you at our next event.

Thank you again for being so kind and generous to me with your time, your love, and your support.

I will forever cherish the brief moment of our encountering.

May you continue to have massive success, may you find precious love, deep peace and ever-lasting happiness.

    Yours in gratitude,

    Grace Curley

    1. Grace Curley, I am still astounded by your age, there is an old old soul in your twelve year old skin. Thank you for this beautiful message, we were all so impressed by your wisdom and poise and there is no doubt that very soon the whole world will know your name and I’m looking forward to seeing all the things you’ll undoubtedly achieve.
I’d be happy to stay in touch and I’ll definitely say hello if I’m ever lucky enough to be invited back to Somerset, it was such a special school and such a special festival, I’ll look back on it with gorgeous memories always.
      Keep shining,
      x megan
